Carlos Roque D. Correia got a bachelor degree in Pharmacy in 1976, and a Master's degree in Chemistry of Natural Products from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1980). Moved to Stanford University, USA, in 1981, where he got a PhD degree in Chemistry in 1986. Back to Brazil in the following year, he then stayed as a posdoc ("recem-doutor") at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro between 87-88. In 1988 was hired as visiting professor, and in 1990 became "professor adjunto" in at the same University. He stayed at UFRJ until 1993, when he moved to the State University of Campinas, starting as associated professor MS-4. Moving through the academic ranks, he turned "Professor Adjunto" in 1999 and in 2009 became "Professor Titular" at Unicamp. He acted as vice-Director of the Chemistry Institute of Unicamp from May 2009 to July 2010. Acted as head of the School of Pharmacy of Unicamp from Nov./2010 to Dec./2012. Holds a CNPq research fellowship at the 1B level.His main interests are in organic chemistry with emphasis in organic synthesis and homogeneous catalysis, with special interest in the development of new synthetic methodologies involving palladium-catalyzed reactions, synthesis of heterocyclic compounds with pharmacologic activity, and new synthetic applications for arenediazonium salts.
