Marco Aurelio Guimarães

Graduated in Medicine from the Medical School of Ribeirão Preto of the University of São Paulo (FMRP-USP) in 1993. Master's (1996) and PhD (2000) from the Department of Physiology at FMRP-USP. Professor at the Department of Pathology and Legal Medicine at FMRP-USP since 1998. Post-doctorate in Human Identification at the University of Sheffield - UK (2002). Operates in the areas of Legal Medicine and Bioethics. Develops research in the area of #8203;#8203;Human Identification, being responsible for the Laboratory of Forensic Anthropology at the Center for Legal Medicine (CEMEL) of FMRP-USP. Works in exhumations and investigations of human rights violations in political crimes in Brazil.Works in the courses of Medicine, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy, Nutrition, Speech Therapy, Biomedical Informatics, Dentistry and Law. Full advisor of the Graduate Program of the Department of Pathology and Legal Medicine at FMRP-USP. He was a member of the Technical Chamber of Bioethics of the Regional Council of Medicine of the State of São Paulo (CREMESP) from 2008 to 2018 and of the Commission on Bioethics, Biology and Biotechnology of OAB Ribeirão Preto. He became Associate Professor (MS5) in Forensic Anthropology in 2014 by the Department of Pathology and Legal Medicine at FMRP-USP. Director of the Interior Death Verification Service (SVOI) from 2014 to 2018. He resumed this Directorate in 2020 with a mandate until 2022. He currently develops research and extension activities in Forensic Medicine (New application technologies in Forensic Anthropology and mortality statistics, domestic violence with a primary focus on children, gender issues, homo-affection, trans and intersexuality).
