Composer, arranger, flutist, researcher and professor. First musical training at Pró-Arte in Rio de Janeiro from 1973 on with Esther Scliar, Felícia Wang, Homero de Magalhães e Odette Ernest Dias, among others. Admission in the graduation for composition at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 1977 and later graduation by Hans-Joachim Koellreutter at the Paulista High School of Art, São Paulo. In 1984-85 studies at the High School of Music and Interpretative Arts in Viena and, as recipient of a scholarship from DAAD, at the High School of Music and Interpretative Arts in Stuttgart between 1985 and 1988 with Helmut Lachenmann, Erhard Karkoschka and Milko Kelemen among others. Master of Arts at the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) by Almeida Prado (scholarship from FAPESP). PhD (Musicology) at the University of Karlsruhe by Siegfried Schmalzriedt (scholarship from Capes/DAAD). During the doctorate he received a scholarship from Paul Sacher Foundation, Basle, in order to research the Helmut Lachenmann Collection. Post-doctoral research between 2011 and 2013 with a scholarship from FAPESP, interrupted to take public office. Specialization course in neurosciences at the Medical School of the University of São Paulo. University professor in São Paulo and coordinator of the research group "Cogmus: analytic and creative processes and musical cognition". Publications in Brazil, United States, Germany, Italy and France. He received 17 prizes, among them 11 first prizes, in composition, interpretation and arrangement contests in Brazil and Italy. His list of compositions includes more than 80 titles. His compositions and arrangements are being presented in Germany, Italy, Denmark, Luxembourg, United States and several festivals in Brazil.
