Associate Professor in the Department of Genetics, Microbiology and Immunology at the Institute of Biosciences, São Paulo State University (UNESP), Botucatu campus, and Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Biological Sciences (Genetics). He is the leader of the research group The Non-Coding Genome (UNESP), a collaborator of the Structure and Evolution of Genomes group (UNESP), and a member of the Pescado para Saúde Network (NPOP/CCD-FAPESP). He is actively involved in national and international scientific cooperation, developing studies in vertebrate genomics, with a focus on freshwater and marine fishes, encompassing microRNAs and other non-coding genome elements, with applications in conservation, fisheries, and aquaculture. He serves as a member of editorial boards of scientific journals, acts as an ad hoc reviewer for international journals, and as a reviewer for research proposals submitted to FAPESP and CNPq.
