MARCIA CARNEIRO VALERA (VALERA MC) is a Full Professor of Endodontics at the Institute of Science and Technology (ICT) of São José dos Campos of the São Paulo State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho - UNESP and Permanent Professor (Master's and Doctorate) of the Postgraduate Program in Sciences Applied to Oral Health - CASB - UNESP, São José dos Campos - SP, Brazil. Coordinated the Postgraduate Program in Restorative Dentistry (Master's and Doctorate) from 1999 to 2004 and 2010 to 2017. Coordinates the Dental Trauma Center (CETRADE) at UNESP in São José dos Campos from 1994 to the present, chaired the Research Committee of the ICT - UNESP from 2001 to 2003, Coordinated the internship in Dentistry of the Health Campaign of the "Prata da Casa" project - UNESP and the Federal University of Maranhão in São Luiz and Alcântara, served as a Member of the Postgraduate Programs Evaluation Committee - CAPES - 3 terms (1999 to 2007). Received several awards, including the award from the XXIV National Brazilian Invention Competition Governor of the State Award, held by the State Service for Assistance to Inventors (1998), and was the advisor for the Doctoral Thesis that received Honorable Mention in the 2016 Capes Thesis Award. It has consolidated exchanges with universities in Brazil and abroad and is currently conducting joint research with professors from the University of Michigan (USA) and Birmingham (United Kingdom). It has experience in clinical research in the fight against endodontic infection and evaluation of repair after the use of different procedures and chemical substances. It also conducts research using animal models and in vitro studies, all aimed at combating endodontic infection and post-endodontic treatment repair. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
