Zanotto has received 32 AWARDS, including the prestigious Comenda Nacional da Ordem do Mérito Cientifico (Knight), Admiral Álvaro Alberto (A^3), Nanocell 2017, TWAS Engineering Award + 6 prestigious international glass research awards..His WORK includes fundamental and applied research on crystallization kinetics and properties of glasses and glass-ceramics (GC), including rigorous tests, improvement or development of nucleation and growth models for glasses, effects of liquid phase separation on nucleation, surface crystallization kinetics, overall crystallization, glass stability versus glass forming ability, correlations between molecular structure and nucleation mechanism, sintering with simultaneous crystallization, diffusion processes in glasses, as well as mechanical, rheological, thermal and bio properties of glasses and GC...The technological branch of Zanotto?s team and collaborators include projects in partnership with 22 companies and consultancy to more than 40 companies. He is interested in the development or improvement of GC with improved or new functionalities. ..EDZ created and has been the head the Vitreous Materials Lab (lamav.weebly.com) since 77. He has PUBLISHED circa 250 original and review papers, 21 book chapters, 3 books, 5 book prefaces, 20 filled patents, and advised about 80 theses and post docs. 28 of his ex-students and post-docs became university professors or glass researchers. He ranks 7th in the list of patents granted in Brazil. Regarding his main research focus (crystallization of oxide glasses), he ranks first at SCOPUS with the keywords (crystal growth nucleation glass)..He is an EDITOR of the Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, and Advisory Board Member of: Int. Journal Applied Glass Science, Bio Med Glasses, MRS Bulletin (guest), J. Mat. Science (guest), Materials Research, Bulletin Sociedad Espanhola de Ceramica y Vidrio, Iranian J.M.S&T, and Cerâmica...He is a member of both Brazilian & São Paulo State ACADEMY OF SCIENCES, National Academy of Engineering, The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), World Academy of Ceramics, Fellow Soc.
