- Research Grants
FAPESP and MIT will organize joint Calls for Proposals so that researchers at MIT and researchers associated to public or private Higher Education or Research Institutions in the State of São Paulo can request seed funds for starting a collaboration.
The researchers at MIT will use their MISTI Program while researchers in São Paulo must be Principal Investigators of ongoing research projects funded by FAPESP within the following schemes: Regular Line of Funding, Thematic Projects, Young Investigators, or Research, Innovation and Dissemination Centres (CEPIDs/RIDCs), to submit projects for the exchange of researchers between the State of São Paulo, Brazil and the USA, under the terms and conditions set in the agreement.
The objective of this joint project, in the scope of the MIT/FAPESP 2015 Call for Proposals, is to investigate a new set of poison-resistant catalysts for hydrogen gas clean-up via the WGS reaction by employing novel materials synthesized at MIT (Chemical Engineering) based on early transition metal carbides and unique reactor and characterization fools developed in Brazil. More specifi...
The main objective is to develop an adaptive strategy based on variable impedance for walking rehabilitation of post-stroke patients. The proposed strategy will be evaluated in two different robotic devices. The first device is the lower limb exoskeleton Exo-Kanguera, designed and built by the proposer in previous projects. The device has three degrees of freedom, acting at hip, knee, a...
Random lasers (RL) based on biopolymers (BP) and fluorescent proteins (FP) will be treated. RL are different from traditional lasers in the sense that the feedback amplification is provided by disorder-induced scattering. The absence of mirrors / and the multidirectional emission observed from samples in any form/size lead to a broad range of applications for RL materials. One of them c...
