Abstract
The type of skin with the highest recurrence in the Brazilian population is the oily skin, which, due to the climate in Brazil, may persist over the years. In addition, solar radiation is the main extrinsic factor that accelerates skin aging and the high UV index in countries with a tropical climate as Brazil, leading to a more intense photoaging, regardless of the chronological aging, in individuals submitted to solar exposure without or with the incorrect use of sunscreens. At the same time, the excess amount of sebum can cause skin changes that compromise the physiology of the cutaneous tissue, affecting not only the skin but also the hair. In this context, we highlight the guarana extract, due to its rich composition in caffeine, catechins and other bioactive compounds and rice nutripeptides, which stimulate the proliferation of fibroblasts, fibronectin and integrins, related to collagen synthesis, presents potential for application in cosmetic products, resulting in innovative products for the control of skin and hair oiliness and improve the conditions of the photoaged skin. Thus, the objective of the present study is develop skin and hair cosmetic formulations containing guarana extract and rice peptides, as well as evaluate the physical-mechanical properties and clinical efficacy of these formulations in the recovery of damages caused by photoaging and excessive production of sebum, using advanced biophysics and imaging techniques. Finally, the developed products will have a good cost/benefit and safety/efficacy ratio, to meet consumer's expectations and also contribute to the scientific, technological and innovation development of the country.
