MARINE AND ESTUARINE UNREPORTED CATCHES OF STATE OF SÃO PAULO

Abstract

Fisheries catches data were used to fleet size regulations and also in the fisheries stock evaluations. Although having the better and older fishery database in Brazil, lacks occur in relation to the knowledge of effective catches of the State of Sao Paulo. This study aims to estimate the unreported fisheries catches to reconstruct the real catches along São Paulo coast, due to the pulverization of landings, subsistence fisheries, discards and recreational fisheries. Several strategies to gather data will be applied considered the distinct fisheries types and characteristics, including the experience and collaboration of the diverse stakeholders. (AU)
