Abstract

Introduction: Breastfeeding (MA) is the first feeding practice, which is recommended only in the first six months of life and is supplemented with other foods after this time, up to two years or more. Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness of educational action in prenatal follow-up on the intention to breastfeed and the performance of breastfeeding in the puerperium of adolescent mothers. Method: A non-randomized and open clinical study to be performed at the Hospital Dr. José Aristodemo Pinotti-CAISM / Unicamp. It will include primiparous adolescents with CAISM delivery, single fetus, alive and term. They will be divided into two groups: Group 1) Puerperas who had prenatal care in the CAISM and participated in the educational activity of AM offered in the PNA; Group 2) Puerperas that did not participate in this group. The sample size will be 59 participants in each group. The collection will occur in two moments: during the stay of the puerpera and her child in the Joint Accommodation (AC) and the first puerperal consultation in the outpatient clinic of Puerperal Review of Adolescents (RPA). They will be invited to participate in the study after the age of 19, who had the birth of children born alive in the CAISM, and who signed the Term of Free and Informed Consent and Term of Free and Informed Assent. At both times, the puerperae will answer questions about AM and they and their newborns will be observed during a feeding, filling out the "Breastfeeding Assessment Observation Form" of the Ministry of Health. The project complies with Resolution 466/2012. Data analysis: Data will be allocated in tables and graphs for descriptive statistical analysis (mean, standard deviation, absolute and relative frequency distribution). Open questions will be categorized for the application of statistical analyzes. The level of significance adopted for the statistical tests will be 5%. For statistical analysis, the program Statistical Analysis System (SAS), version 9.4 for Windows will be used. Keywords: breastfeeding; prenatal; Adolescent; Group of pregnant women. (AU)
