ANALYSIS OF INTERFACES BETWEEN COMPOSITE CONSTING OF CANINE AND BOVINE HETEROLOGOUS MINERALIZED TRABECULAR BONE MATRIX (MOMHTc and MOMHTb) ASSOCIATED TO POLYMETHYLMETHACRYLATE (PMMA) AND/OR TO CHITOSAN AND THE BONE DEFECT OF RABBIT TIBIA

Abstract

Orthopedic disorders that require specialized surgical procedures for bone replacement are common in both veterinary and human medicine. So it is common, orthopaedist to face long bone fractures, bone tumors or non-union fractures, requiring surgical repair using bone graft, natural and / or synthetic implant. The aim of this study is to analyze the interfaces between composites made up of canine and bovine MOMHT, associated with PMMA and/or chitosan and the bone defects of the rabbit tibia, through radiographic assay and scanning electron microscopy at different times. In this study will be used 24 adult New Zealand rabbits, divided into two groups to assess the behavior of composites based on MOMHTc (n =12) and/or MOMHTb associated with PMMA (n=12) and the MOMHTc (n =12) and/or MOMHTb (n = 12) associated to chitosan (n=12). Each group will be divided into four subgroups (E1, n-3, E2, n-3; E3, n-3 and E4, n-3), in which the bone defects of right and left tibia will be filled with composite and evaluated immediately after surgery and after 30, 60, 90 and 120 days. It is expected an osseointegration development of the composites in the bone defects of rabbit tibia. (AU)
