Abstract

The research activities of the Professor Sérgio L. Carrara are related to my research projects "Old Age, Public Policies and Relations between Generations" and "Challenges of Care: Gender and Dependent Old Age". He will also advise graduate students working under my supervision; as well as the different researchers working at Pagu - Centre for Gender Studies at UNICAMP. These activities extend also to the students enrolled in the Social Science Doctorate Program, area of Gender Studies at UNICAMP. The Professor will participate in meetings, research seminars and in the organization of repertoires of research that are being developed by PAGU - Centre for Gender Studies. These activities will be complemented by lectures open to a broader audience, particularly professor and students from the Departments of Anthropology, Sociology and Political Science at UNICAMP and other universities in the state of São Paulo. The main goal of the visit is to deepen knowledge on issues that articulate public policies, violence, gender and morality. Professor Sérgio L. Carrara accumulates credentials in studies on the connections of these themes. In his researches, he has explored in particular the transformations of contemporary politics and sexual morality, from the point of view of the process of citizenship of people whose sexual orientations and gender identities are considered unconventional. Considering the historical and conceptual repertoire of the project, the researcher's participation will be of extreme relevance insofar as the juxtaposition of different repertoires and conceptual bodies will broaden the horizons of reflections on gender and public policies and will bring new dimensions for studies focusing on old age.
