Abstract

The project proposes to describe the instrumental and functional dependence of the elderly accompanied by the Home Care Service of the city of Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil and correlate them with the overload and quality of life of their caregivers. It is a cross-sectional study, with a quantitative approach, carried out with informal and primary family caregivers of dependent elderly people. Methodological course: survey of the elderly accompanied; (Lowton-Brody) and the functional dependence of the elderly (Barthel Index). After caregivers of dependent elderly people will be submitted to the Quality of Life (BREF) and overload questionnaire (Zarit Burden Interview). The Brazilian economic classification criterion and the socioeconomic-demographic factors questionnaire will also be used. Because it deals with research with humans, all the recommendations of Resolution 466/2012 of the National Health Council will be followed. Data will be analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences 20.0. It is hoped that the research will contribute to advances in the knowledge about the impact that the dependence of the elderly can cause on the quality of life and the burden of the caregivers. (AU)
