Orbital resonances in configurations with arbitrary relative inclination

Abstract

The existence of asteroids like the coorbital 2015BZ509 and the transneptunians Niku and Drac whose orbits have high relative inclination with respect to the planets' orbital plane is problematic in the context of the current theories for formation and evolution of the solar system. The recent modelling and subsequent identification of orbital resonances with the giant planets was essencial to the understanding of these configurations. We propose the continuation of the dynamical modelling of resonant orbital configurations in 3 dimensions, as well as the study of the dynamical evolution of retrograde and polar orbits, and the possible capture mechanisms in these configurations.
