Abstract

In the horse market the offspring of proven breeders are more valued, however this usually happens when mares already have advanced age and progeny proven. This stimulates that these animals, even with low fertility rates, continue in reproductive programs. In this context persistent breeding induced endometritis (PBIE) has important impacts, being considered the third most frequent disease affecting horses and the main cause of subfertility in this species. Studies using immunomodulatory drugs have shown good results in reducing the inflammatory process, as well as increasing the fertility of these animals. More recently, the use of PRP has proved to be beneficial in the treatment of EPPC, increasing conception rates. PRP is already widely used in veterinary medicine, in the treatment of a wide variety of diseases, mainly tendinous, osteoarticular, ligamentous and cutaneous lesions, due to its mitogenic, chemotactic, neovascular and anti-inflammatory action. The conditioned medium (CM) from mesenchymal stem cells, has shown satisfactory and similar results to the use of stem cells. With the advantage of less possibility of rejection because they do not contain cells and only the cytokines produced by them. It can be an interesting tool in the use of mares with PBIE. In this context, firocoxib also proves to be an effective anti-inflammatory with few adverse effects and can be used more routinely. The present study aims to evaluate the expression of inflammatory interleukins by the endometrium of mares treated with PRP, MC and firocoxib, as well as the molecular expression of the endometrium and proteomics of the endometrial fluid of these animals.
