Corrosion of Spray-Formed high entropy alloys

Abstract

This proposal goes within the context of a request for a Visiting Researcher Grant, with the general objective of fostering the exchange and scientific cooperation between two research groups, a Brazilian and Franco-Emiradian, which have a substantial role in the study of corrosion properties of several innovative alloys. Among these alloys, High Entropy Alloys (HEA) have attracted increasing scientific and industrial interest in recent years because they have astounding strength and toughness combination. Additionally, the production of HEAs with high corrosion resistance is essential to extend its application field to severe environments such as those found in the petrochemical industry. In this context, and considering the historical performance of the two research groups, this proposal is based on a critical evaluation of the corrosion behavior HEAs produced by spray-forming, which is a processing route much closer to the industrial conditions than most processes used in corrosion studies regarding HEAs.
