Abstract
The purpose of the visit is to consolidate a research line on Crime, Prisons, and City Governance, recently incorporated into the NEV-CEPID institutional project "Building Democracy Daily: Human Rights, Violence and Institutional Trust", renewed for the period 2018-2024. The main objective of the visiting Plan is to broaden and deepen knowledge about the corrosive impact of organized crime on the future of democratic governance in Latin American countries. Adopting the perspective of studies that focus on transnational organized crime, and based on comparative methodology, the plan seeks to explore hypotheses to explain ongoing changes in state governance and corporate organizations that have strengthened the power of criminal organizations in recent decades. The plan will focus on case studies from Mexico, Colombia and Brazil. (AU)
