Dr. Donato Americo Rivas is a Scientist II and Professor of Nutrition, Exercise Physiology, and Sarcopenia Laboratory, Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging (HNRCA), Tufts University (Boston, USA). Dr. Rivas investigates the role of substrates in cell signaling pathways that control the metabolism and growth of skeletal muscle and how nutrition, aging, and physical exercise contribute to changes in skeletal muscle energy homeostasis. During his visit to Brazil, Dr. Rivas will participate as a member of a master's degree defense, will contribute to the interpretation and discussion of the partial results of five research projects financed by FAPESP (processes 2017/09038-1, 2017/12765-2, 2017/19869-8, 2017/25492-4, and 2018/12519-4), whose Prof. Dr. Adelino Sanchez Ramos da Silva is responsible. Also, Dr. Rivas will give lectures to the students of the Postgraduate Program in Physical Education and Sport, School of Physical Education and Sport of Ribeirao Preto, University of Sao Paulo (USP), the Postgraduate Program in Rehabilitation and Functional Performance, Ribeirao Preto Medical School (FMRP), and the Postgraduate Program in Nutrition, Sports and Metabolism Science (CNEM/UNICAMP).
