Abstract

Reverse Logistics (RL) involves the collection, separation, recycling, and disposal of waste. One of the materials that can and should go through the recycling process is paper, since recycling of this material contributes to the development of the three pillars of sustainability (economic, environmental and social) by minimizing emissions of polluting gases, and the costs involved production processes, and by increasing the number of jobs. The general objective of this work is to develop a model for the waste paper recycling system in order to optimize the economic, environmental and social factors considering uncertainty. A literature search will be carried out to investigate multiobjective models, random parameters and techniques to deal with uncertainty in the context of solid waste RL. Visits to companies that work with waste paper will also be carried out to assist in the process of construction and validation of the proposed model. It is expected to elaborate a model close to reality in order to optimize sustainable objectives and to obtain interesting and competitive results with the help of the solution approaches that will be proposed.
