Abstract
Several technologies for biomass conversion and waste reuse for the production of new energy-efficient products are emerging. These include supercritical technology, which uses water as a solvent in a clean and sustainable process, and dry thermophilic anaerobic digestion technology that values wastewater and solid waste while producing biogas (biohydrogen / methane). In order to evaluate the integration of these technologies it is proposed the construction of an experimental unit composed by reactors in series and in parallel of hydrolysis in subcritical water and digestion. The innovation of this project is the integration of technologies in the concept of biorefinery leading to a sustainable technological development, where several by-products of high added value will be obtained through a reactors unit with automated system coupled in line with the step of chemical analysis. The optimization stage of the biomass pretreatment will determine the yield of the chemicals of this chemical platform such as C5 and C6 sugars, ethanol, butanol, furfural, hydroxymethylfurfural, levulinic acids and their derivatives, succinic acid. On the other hand, digestion steps will allow the production of biogas, biohydrogen and / or biomethane as a substitute for natural gas and / or biofuel, as well as analyzes of technical and economic aspects and life cycle will allow assessing the impacts on human health and in the environment. Additionally, obtaining a high quality final hydrolyzate will be obtained through novel biochar (biochar) assays, ie the residue obtained in the hydrolysis reactor will be packaged and reused as a filter with high selectivity of compounds. On the other hand, depending on the liquid or solid residue, the digestion reactor will also innovate this research working in line with the hydrolysis reactor for the production of biogas in the case of lignocellulosic residues. Thus, this project proposes an experimental unit capable of performing recovery and treatment processes using both technologies independently or in an integrated manner. All the by-products obtained will be evaluated technically and economically, either for the production of biofuels (2G ethanol) and / or biogas rich in biohydrogen and / or methane, and on the other hand biochar of high added value. It is intended to develop a process capable of valorizing wastewater and organic and lignocellulosic waste, while at the same time obtaining end products of high added value, in addition to producing bioenergy, relevant when considering the sustainable development of industries and cities, diversification of the country's energy network, promoting research with innovation and generating knowledge by combining biochemical conversion and energy routes.
