Abstract

During the visit of Profa. Dr. Giovanna Rosso Del Brenna, the following activities are planned: 1) Four seminars will be held, within the framework of the activities of the Young Researcher Project "Baroque Cifrado Cultural Plurality in Art and Architecture of the Jesuit Missions in the State of São Paulo", along with the undergraduate and postgraduate courses of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo (FAU-USP) and of the Sextas Barrocas Program of the JP Project. The Seminar entitled Encrypted Territories: The Circulation and Reception of Italian Models in Arts and Architecture in Brazil from the 16th to the 19th centuries, will deal with the following topics: 1.1) Relations between Italy and Brazil in the Historiography of Art and Architecture; 1.2) Lombard Architects of the Company of Jesus in the American territories; 1.3) Words and images in the Jesuit sources about Colonial Brazil; 1.4) Brazil-Italy Dialogues in the History of Brazilian Cities; 2) Two seminars with the Institute of Advanced Studies of the University of São Paulo - IEA-USP. The Seminar will be titled Encrypted Heritage: The Circulation of Italian Models and Artists in the Jesuit Missions in South America, and will deal with the following topics: 2.1) The Jesuit Missions of the 30 Pueblos: a challenge for art historians; 2.2) Art and architecture of the Jesuits in Rio de Janeiro; 3) Sextas Barrocas: Meeting with students and researchers participating in the JP Baroque Coded Thematic Project at FAU-USP. They may, however, still be held: 4) A Conference at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di San Paolo; 5) A Seminar at the Institute of Philosophy and Human Sciences of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro - UFRJ.
