Abstract

Sugarcane is a product of prominence in the Brazilian economic and social scenario is one of the main crops explored in much of the world and its borders expand every day. Such importance is attributed to its multiple uses, among them in the form of fodder for animal feed due to its high production by area, ease of production, adaptability and optimum point of use in the season of less pasture production. Genetic improvement is considered one of the main factors that can contribute to the increase of productivity, allowing the development of cultivars that are better adapted to different ambient conditions. Few studies have been carried out in the sense of elucidating the importance of the parents in the determination of progeny performance; the objective of this project is to: a.) evaluate the development of progenies of forage cane IAC86-2480, as well as the cultivation in MPB (pre-budded seedlings) of phase 2 (FS2) of selection through technological, biometric, physiological, bromatological parameters, productivity; b.) To evaluate maternal and paternal effects in crosses performed among ten distinct families, having as one of the parents the cultivar IAC86-2480, where six crosses in three pairs are reciprocal; c.) To evaluate the performance and digestibility of lambs fed with superior IACSP86-2480 genotypes confined in the finishing phase. (AU)
