Structural composites tubes and profiles manufactured by filament winding process

Abstract

The demand for materials with characteristics of high mechanical strength and low density and the application of these materials in commercial products that can be used by society is a constant challenge to engineering. Fiber Reinforced Composite Materials (MCRF) have responded to this request successfully. Among the various manufacturing processes with MCRF, filament winding (FW) has been distinguished by its ability to produce profiles and structural tubes directing the product resistance to the required request, resulting in an optimized product, having FW a wide application in the most varied segments. In Brazil, its share is of the order of 8.7% in the composites market, having applications in the manufacture of pressure vessels, tubes, etc. This project aims at the use of the FW process to obtain structural components with application in several areas. The study of engineering and product design, mechanical and functional testing, innovation through new techniques of material winding and composition, investigation of market potential and commercial viability. The opening of a microenterprise in Parq Tech de São Carlos, a business incubator, where research, design, manufacturing and reports will be carried out; the mechanical and functional tests will be performed at the School of Engineering of São Carlos USP. A business plan will be presented contemplating the result of the investigations of the market potential and the commercial viability of the products studied for the second step, Phase 2 of the PIPE.
