The Civil Wars in Russia (1917-1921) and their Key Importance for the Definition and Construction of Authoritarian Socialism in the Soviet Union

Abstract

Research Project SummaryProject Title: The Civil Wars in Russia (1917-1921) and their Key Importance for the Definition and Construction of Authoritarian Socialism in the Soviet UnionThrough this research, we aim to investigate the civil wars in Russia, between 1918 and 1921, as a decisive process for the definition and consolidation of the Soviet matrix of socialism - authoritarian and nationalist. The idea is to present evidence that allows the concept of civil wars to be conceptualized as a new revolution, distinct from that of October 1917. On the other hand, the objective is to demonstrate the plural character of civil wars (red x white - revolution x counterrevolution); reds x reds and blacks - Bolsheviks x other socialists and anarchists; Russians vs. non-Russians; red vs. green - guerrillas without defined political affiliation who took refuge in the forests), highlighting the fundamental implications of that in the construction of the Soviet matrix of socialism. Finally, as long as our hypotheses are confirmed, reconfiguring civil wars as the historical cradle of the Soviet matrix of socialism. (AU)
