Abstract

The present project proposes studies in three important areas of photochemistry that will continue to take advantage of the unique and complementary expertise and facilities of the Swedish and Brazilian groups: (i) the investigation of the occurrence of proton-coupled electron transfer (PCET), excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESI) and photoisomerization of natural pigments and designed derivatives using laser-based advanced spectroscopy and (ii) the application of natural and designed non-natural betalains for energy conversion using nanostructured and enzymatic platforms.
