Abstract

This project intends to develop studies, analysis and research on ST&I indicators in the state of São Paulo, including quantitative information on inputs and products of ST&I activities, such as: education of human resources for S&I activities, expenditures in R&D, scientific publications, intelectual property, people employed in ST&I activities. Indicators and analysis to be developed will focus on understanding the roles of universities, research institutes and businesses, how these institutions interact and the results of such activities. The indicators, including new ones to be developed, will be also used to analize the impact of state and federal ST&I public policies on the results of such activities, and to study how São Paulo interacts with other states regarding ST&I activities.The project will always include and national and international contexts in the analysis to be developed and will take into consideration international benchmarking in the analysis and development of indicators.The project will also explore and develop new indicators, including: indicators of regional inequalities in the activities of ST&I in Brazil, indicators related to how states collaborate regarding scientific research, as well as how the various institutions, universities, RI and business interact in the development and exchange of knowledge with the purpose of furthering ST&I activities.Besides the research and studies to be developed, the project will support the structuring of the databases with data related to the various ST&I activities, collaborating with the Gerência de Estudos e Indicadores/DPCTA/Fapesp.
