Abstract

The present research has as its object of study the narratives by children with disabilities attending the regular school using the narrative research methodology (autobiographical narratives) and the cultural-historical theory of development. The research will be developed with children diagnosed with disabilities enrolled in elementary school (1st to 9th grade, in the Brazilian school system) in a municipal public school located within São Paulo state in Brazil. Its general objective is to investigate and analyze the perceptions and meanings that students with disabilities have in their school experiences. The data will be collected through conversation meetings with the children. The sessions will be recorded in audio and video, and later transcribed. In line with the theoretical framework, an interpretative and explanatory analysis will be carried out seeking to reveal, through the narratives, how the children experience their time in regular school and what are the indications and possibilities of their knowledge acquisition and, thus, identifying perspectives for the schooling process of the students.
