Abstract

Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) are the biggest cause of deaths worldwide. Majority of premature deaths from NCDs are linked to tobacco use, unhealthy diet, physical inactivity and harmful use of alcohol. NCDs, like Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and Diabetes, are preexisting clinical conditions that are risk factors for complications like drugs nephrotoxicity, as Contrast Nephropathy (CN). Acute nephrotoxic expositions potentialize progression of CKD and Diabetic Nephropathy (DN). CN represents 10% of the hospital acquired Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) and it is the third cause of AKI. Physical activity is considered a non pharmacological intervention that can interfere in the progression of the CKD and CN. Despite of having been published several times, the benefits of the physical activity in CKD and ND are still not well described. The objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of moderate physycal activity on the renal function in diabetic and CKD rats. (AU)
