Development of organic, vegan and self-preserving dermocosmetic formulation for the treatment of skin dysfunctions such as acne and rosacea with minimization of side-effects

Abstract

There is a wide range of cosmetic and dermocosmetic products worldwide in the market that claim to improve and even treat acne through the use of active ingredients and components that are antibacterial and promote the control of excessive oiliness of the skin, as well as products that use the claim of soothe the skin and ease the discomfort and symptoms of rosacea through the use of actives that promote anti-inflammatory action and / or calming ingredients. However, these same products that use these claims, have ingredients that have a high potential for pore clogging as well as irritating and sensitizing the skin. On the other hand, the existing organic cosmetics in the market are not capable to improve these two skin problems concomitantly with great effectiveness, since they do not use active ingredients that are compatible with skins that are susceptible to both conditions. In order to solve this issue, it is proposed to develop an organic, vegan and self-preservative dermocosmetic formulation, specially formulated for acne and sensitized skin with rosacea. Thus, the objectives of this project are: develop a formulation based on bibliographic research to map the most effective natural and organic assets for the treatment of both skin conditions, as well as ensure the correct selection of the components and product characteristics necessary for avoiding the use of preservatives, guaranteeing the absence of growth of microorganisms and prove the consumer's feasibility of using the product from physico-chemical, microbiological and shelf-life stability studies, as well as safety and efficacy studies. Keywords: Dermocosmetics, Organic and Self-Preservative, Acne, Rosacea. (AU)
