Abstract
With the application of the Institutional Technical Reserve for Connectivity ofprevious years, important improvements were made to the institutional Data Centeras the complete replacement of the air conditioning system, with the installation ofnew precision in-row appliances, the replacement of the raised floor, with theuse steel plates with cellular concrete filling, the replacement of thepartitions with masonry walls, changing the doors, replacing theceiling covering by flameproof plates and LED fixtures. The installation of two new redundant air conditioning unitstook up the space of one rack each. However, the removal of evaporators from thedeactivated air conditioning system in an adjoining room, separated by dry-wall,allowed the expansion of the Data Center in six more racks, as soon as a newexpansion is necessary. This allowed the maintenance of ideal temperatures offunctioning, with the devices operating alternately in 99.9%to optimize energy consumption and conserve the entire system. In addition, the planned internal confinement for the Data Center with doorsthat secrete the air from the cold aisle and promote air circulation between the twohot aisles increased the overall thermal efficiency of the system, maintaining themore stable temperature; allowing switching between the two devices withoutgreater imbalances between hot corridors and greater energy savings. With the adjustments made in the Data Center area, the teams ofsupport and infrastructure were brought together in a single environment, withcomfort air conditioning units in a Network Operations Center - NOCwhere monitoring of links, services, servers, information about the systemsupport to the Data Center such as the operation of UPS and air conditioningcan be monitored by professionals and related by cause and effect, including in response to user call openings and phone calls.Another aspect observed is that with an increase in theprocessing in 2018, the provision of new services; the increment ofdocument storage systems and other teaching media research andassistance (classes, documents, videos and image diagnostics, among others);increased monitoring of services and transaction logs forced an increase inof primary storage capacity, the acquisition of secondary storage thatit will still be insufficient to meet future demands. The current storage park already exceeds 500Tb gross and should triplein 3 years, with the current main storage ofresearch and computational environment (VMs) for the same purpose already has eightyears of use and is no longer supported by the manufacturer, thus making it susceptible toelectrical and mechanical problems inherent in the time of use in operation.
