Abstract

The exchange activities will be developed around two fundamental lines, in order to show approximations and distances between teacher training practices in Brazil and New Zealand, discussed in historical and current perspective. Regarding the historical perspective, the proposal dialogues with the investigations foreseen in Axis 2 (Subjects and artefacts: movements and traces) of the FAPESP-funded thematic project Knowledge and practices in borders: for a transnational history of education (1808 -...), giving emphasis on the actions of the New Education Fellowship (NEF) on the international circuit, by expanding and adding to previous research funded by FAPESP, which explores Brazil's connections with NEF, focusing on the circulation of subjects and objects between the USA, Europe and South America. Regarding the contemporary perspective, this proposal addresses the debates, included in Axis 4 (Resources for teaching and teacher education), of the same Thematic Project, around complex concepts of gender, ethnicity, race, generation, and also issues associated with sustainability and new technologies. The objective of Axis 4 is to contribute to the training of teachers at a tertiary level and to teaching practices in public schools, through the production of educational resources, derived from the research carried out by the team, in line with contemporary themes and theoretical references. At the heart of this proposal investments, there is a concern to assess the tensions and negotiations present in the configuration of the public education systems of both countries, reflecting on discussions around local / national / international relations, which means considering political, economic, social and cultural aspects that made possible the constitution of models of childhood and adolescence education, taken as ideals in very different contexts.
