Abstract

As indicated in the literature, several forms of violence between peers have affected school learning, so this project has as main objective the understanding and the fight against school bullying and prejudice, with the hypothesis that the degree of school inclusion as well as the establishment of relations with authorities in the school so that they are respected and not feared, among other factors, may reduce those forms of violence. This project is derived from another funded by CNPq - School Violence: discrimination, bullying and responsibility - and developed by 12 other national universities and four from other countries (Argentina, Spain, Mexico and Portugal), whose objectives are directed to the relationship between variables involved in this proposal, especially in public schools, but without the intention of being an immediately applied research, as is the case of the present project; among the participants of this research are the Higher Institute of Education of São Paulo, the Ibirapuera University and the Federal University of São Paulo. In the Laboratory of Prejudice Studies of the University of São Paulo, of which four of the researchers of this project were part, one of them as coordinator, several researches were done, with funding, mainly from CNPq, but also from FAPESP and the Secretariat of Human Rights , aiming at combating school violence. In this project, there are three public schools in São Paulo - one municipal and three state - in addition to the two institutions of higher education. The project proposes the creation of a School Violence Observatory, based in one of the higher education centers, composed of managers of public schools and higher education teachers, to guide and supervise the fulfillment of its objectives, arranged in four axes to be developed , one each year: Inclusive Education, School Hierarchies, Authoritarianism and Autonomy, and Bullying and Prejudice. For the development of each of them, specific texts on each subject will be discussed with school educators (managers and teachers); instruments developed and tested in the above mentioned research will be applied to managers, teachers and a class per school, which will participate in the sixth to ninth year, before and after the interventions; discussions will be held with the faculty and the student body about their responses to the instruments used; seminars will be proposed by the Observatory. As results, in addition to the publications of the results, it is hoped to increase the degree of school inclusion of the schools involved and the reduction of bullying and prejudice, aiming to give subsidies to the public policies of São Paulo.
