Abstract

Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI) is responsible for most of the vascular symptoms affecting the lower limbs. It has been recognized the high prevalence of iliac vein obstructions in highly symptomatic IVC limbs. However, there are few published studies that have verified the long-term outcomes of its endovascular treatment. This study aims to evaluate the late clinical results of patients undergoing angioplasty of the iliac vein territory and the relevance of the complementary exams in the diagnosis of recurrence of obstruction and in the promotion of maintenance of stent patency. Methods: This is a prospective study in which patients with advanced CVI (Visual Analogue Scale for pain > 3, Venous Clinical Severity Scale > 10, CEAP C3 to 6), submitted to endovascular treatment of iliac vein obstructions e50% on intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), that evolve with symptoms or iliac vein obstruction recurrence on duplex scanning (DS) are submitted to computerized Tomography venography (CTV), multiplanar venography (MV), and IVUS. The long-term clinical response, the maintenance of patency and stent integrity, the existence of a correlation between clinical status, complementary imaging methods and intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) in the diagnosis of recurrence of iliac vein obstructions will be evaluated.
