Abstract

The general objective of this project will be to evaluate in vitro and in situ the effect of different concentrations of beta calcium glycerophosphate (²-CaGP) and nano-sized added to conventional toothpastes (1100 ppm F) on the process of remineralization of initial lesions of caries. For Subproject 1 the microparticles and nanoparticles of the ² -CaGP isomer will be processed and characterized for later addition to fluoridated dentifrices and tested in vitro and in situ models of caries. For this, the following analyzes will be carried out: a) Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), b) X-ray diffraction (XRD), c) Electron Transmission Electron Microscopy coupled to an X-ray energy dispersion detector (EDX), and d) X-ray fluorescence XRF. In Subproject 2 different concentrations of the micro and nano ²-CaGP isomers associated with 1100 ppm F toothpaste will be used to promote the remineralization of artificial lesions of caries through a pH cycling model. The percentage of remineralization of surface hardness (%SHR), hardness in longitudinal section (”KHN), enamel mineral content (gHap.cm-3), fluoride concentration (F), calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) present in the enamel. For Subproject 3, the best association of micro and nano ²-CaGP to the 1100 ppm F toothpaste obtained in Subproject 2 will be used to test the effect on in situ dental remineralization, where volunteers will use palatine devices for three days with teeth bovine with artificial caries lesions. Then the percentage of surface hardness recovery (%SHR), ”KHN, gHap.cm-3, F, Ca and P present in the enamel will be determined. The statistical software program Sigmaplot© for Windows version 12.0 will be used, with significance at the 5% level. (AU)
