Cromai and agricultural diagnostic system: diagnosis of coffee bean maturity status and plant development of different crops with computer vision analysis

Abstract

Cromai technology was developed with the aim of helping the farmer to diagnose diseases, pests, lack of nutrients and maturation stage in plants through computer vision and artificial intelligence. With this, the farmer increases his productivity, decreases his expenses and the risk with pests and uses less pesticides.Cromai has already successfully developed the agricultural diagnostic device to be coupled to a farm vehicle - such as a tractor or motorbike - and to capture the images of the plantation, as well as the algorithm that processes the captured images in real time or by Cromai device or aerial images obtained by means of UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) and satellites, and analyzes both the color and the morphology of the plants, generating diagnostic maps of the plantation. At the end, the farmer is offered an exhaustive agricultural diagnosis, specifically diagnosis of the nutritional, health and maturation status of the plants, locating them spatially through the GPS marking given by the device at the time of capturing the photo. The present proposal aims at the industrial and commercial development of Cromai and its diagnostic system in specific of the state of maturity in coffee culture and the development of plants in different cultures, being its main technological and research challenge the development of improvements in the solution composed of hardware, software and AI algorithm, validated with tests in pilot operation to meet customer requirements in the field application. As specific objectives, we have (i) a 95% guarantee of accuracy in detecting the degree of maturity in the coffee crop (ii) flexibility of the solution for diagnosis of plant development (leaf temperature, vegetation cover, leaf area index, leaf index) green and plant stand) in different agricultural crops important for the national and American market (soy, cane, coffee, cotton and corn), (iii) flexibility to use both aerial images of UAVs and satellite and Cromai sensor coupled to agricultural machinery to obtain the diagnosis of plant development and (iv) guarantee of easy implementation and usability of the solution by the farmer client. At the end of two years of the project, Cromai hopes to launch commercial scale commercials in the national and international markets (via multinational partner Stoller) of solutions for the degree of maturity of coffee and diagnosis of plant development in soybean, sugarcane, coffee , cotton and corn, complementing the existing portfolio of diagnostic solutions for weeds and vegetable impurity for sugarcane.Specifically for the development of the international market, the translation of the web software platform into English and its integration with the Salesforce customer relationship management software, a tool used by the commercial partner Stoller who will be responsible, is also part of the objectives of this project. international product distribution.
