Abstract

The first edition of the indigenous entrance exam at the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) enabled the admission of 65 indigenous students to various courses. This experience has produced many intercultural frontiers, which are zones related to specific time and place, in which models of thinking, experiencing, signifying and reframing, among other aspects, health, disease and care are confronted. These frontiers are little explored, even unknown, and need to be better understood as, on the one hand, little is known about the meanings attributed by different indigenous peoples to the dynamics of the health-disease-care process and, on the other, the National Health Care Policy for Indigenous Peoples guarantees full access to health for the indigenous population. The objective of this research is to understand the meanings attributed to health, disease and care, by the indigenous students entering Unicamp's 2018 indigenous entrance exam. This project has a qualitative character and its theoretical matrix is that of Cultural Studies. The co-labor methodology will be adopted, which develops a set of information production strategies based on interculturality (openness to recognize the encounter between different cultures in search of mutual learning), interepistemicity (openness to recognize that different knowledge exists in different cultures) and decoloniality (a way of establishing relationships that do not seek to impose control and submission). Indigenous students will be invited to participate in the initial design and execution of meetings and proposals for recording our experiences, which may possibly be, among others, in the form of audio and video. The narratives constructed, collectively or individually, are intended to be knowledge between researchers and participants and not researchers about the meanings attributed by participants, in relation to health, disease, care, intercultural borders, localization policy, diaspora and the space of Diaspora that Unicamp became.
