Abstract

Rural populations form a social group that has been hardly affected by the Covid Pandemic19, and according to the United Nations Research Agenda (UN-Research Roadmap COVID-19), they are greatly marginalized. This proposal aims to establish a collaborative research network to analyze the socio-economical system of Family Farming in an agricultural frontier region, focusing on the stages of resilience analysis - Resilience of what?, Resilience against what?, Adaptation strategies to impacts - in four dimensions of analysis (occupation of the landscape and use of resources, economic and market relations, social interactions, governance and institutions). The process will be based on the research-action methodology, and will aim at building interdisciplinary knowledge, from the participation of the social groups involved, and having the theory of resilience as an integrating theme. We will analyze the impacts and possible strategies to strengthen the resilience of farmers in this new scenario, in the following themes: 1- Production and markets; 2- Local governance; 3- Health, well-being and quality of life; 4- Social inclusion; 5- Training and education; 6- Information and communication technologies. We will evaluate the results obtained relating them to (i) the role of compensatory policies implemented in the pre-pandemic scenario, their failures, and advances, and (ii) Possibilities of articulating public policies with municipal managers, using participatory methodologies involving different social actors. Our objective is evaluating the results in a collaborative way with the communities, so that the understanding of processes and proposition of strategies are collective, participatory and dialogic, taking advantage of connections already established between communities, NGOs and universities (AU)
