Van der Waals Heterostructures for Spintronics

Abstract

Recently, there has been an increasing interest in the physical properties of heterostructures based on two-dimensional (2D) materials due their unique optical, electronic, mechanical and magnetic properties. It was recently shown that two-dimensional ferromagnetic vdW materials are also promising as effective building blocks for a new generation of "spintronics" devices. Here, we propose: (i) to investigate the optical and transport properties of gated TMD VdW heterostructures with different stacking angles such as hBN/WS2/MoSe2/hBN and (ii) to investigate the effect of electrical field and doping on optical, valley and magnetic properties of TMD VdW heterostructures with 2D magnetic materials such as FePS3, MnPSe3, CrSBr and CrPS4.
