Abstract

Anthropogenic impacts in aquatic environments cause the exposure of fauna and flora to numerous substances, of which, many times, we are unaware of their real individual effects and in mixtures. Among the chemical agents that are constantly introduced into the environment, pesticides are relevant, not only for the amounts used, but also for their inherent toxicity and the diversity of products registered and marketed in Brazil. Among ecotoxicological tests with fish, the model based on Danio rerio (known as zebrafish) has become popular for toxicity assessment, mainly because it is an organism with similar anatomy, physiology and development to higher vertebrates, including humans, and because it is representative and recognized as a model for assessment of aquatic environments. Therefore, this project aims to evaluate several parameters, including biomarkers, to investigate the effects of the active ingredients Carbendazim, Fipronil and Ametrine, which pose risks to aquatic life and human health, focusing both on their individual action and on their mixtures. For this, this project will carry out analyzes aimed at identifying histopathological changes in the liver and gills, in addition to the possible action of these agents as endocrine disruptors and in embryonic development in zebrafish. These analyzes, in addition to adding a multidisciplinary character to the project, will allow the production of relevant data to expand ecotoxicological knowledge and identify how such toxicants can interact with the biota. The results may also contribute to more accurate environmental risk assessments of these active ingredients. (AU)
