Abstract

At the beginning of the year 2022, Prof. Dr. Eduardo Festozo Vicente approved a project of the Young Researcher modality at FAPESP - Phase II, which included, among other elements such as grants and research resources, a multi-user Mass Spectrometer coupled to a UHPLC system (LC-MS - liquid chromatography mass spectroscopy). It is estimated that the School of Science and Engineering (SSE) professors demand approximately 1,000 analyzes per month on this equipment, where these analyzes are currently carried out on other campuses or companies with distances of approximately 250 km from Tupã. The equipment will be installed in a room of the Laboratory of Ambience and Food at SSE, where it will be named as "Chromatography Room", a temporary place for the allocation of the researcher's multi-user equipment, since both the Mass Spectrometer coupled to the UHPLC and the HPLC system, already acquired in 2017 by the researcher, will be installed in this Chromatography Room. In this sense and in view of the urgent need to install the Mass Spectrometer (installation planned by the company in February 2023), this project proposes the use of the Institutional Technical Reserve resources available from FAPESP to prepare the site for the installation of research equipment. This action is crucial for the development of research at SSE, as it will directly assist at least 20 professors from different areas who develop work related to the analysis of natural compounds in samples of water, soil, sediments, aquatic and terrestrial animals and plants. Thus, we hope that the installation of equipment in the Food and Ambience Laboratory at SSE can provide lower research costs and travel risks for the researchers, as well as increase SSE's research interaction networks, which will increase quality and diversity of campus research.
