Abstract

Vale do Guaporé and Vale do Jari are home to a rich socio-biodiversity, these territories are marked by socio-environmental conflicts that affect traditional populations and natural resources. In the first one, the impacts arising from sport fishing in the community of Rolim de Moura do Guaporé and Pedras Negras stand out, as the practice results in a predatory tourism that has caused serious problems to the local quilombola communities, decimating their food source, contaminated with effluents from waters of the Guaporé River. While the second has in the fight for the standing forest, especially the chestnut trees that maintain the livelihood of more than 10 traditional communities that live on its banks, including Iratapuru and São José. The objective is the joint understanding (community-mediators) of the use and management of the territory, through the socio-environmental characterization, the diagnosis of territorial management and tourism management and it is intended to analyze the sustainability potential of the Guaporé Valley - RO with replication of the Methodology in Vale do Jari - AP. We will use Participatory Research and Research - Action, as a decolonizing process and alternative to conventional methods of investigation, in search of the recognition of popular science and its convergence with traditional science, for the construction of collective knowledge related to socio-environmental management and intervention when necessary. The techniques to be used will be participant observation, field diary, interviews and action in the form of interventions through workshops, elaboration of pedagogical material, lectures and environmental mapping with multiple techniques. It is expected, the socio-environmental characterization of the territory, the systematization of endogenous proposals for a sustainable tourism that derives in income generation and local development of the populations of the region, to concretize an environmental and territorial management plan to minimize the identified negative impacts and to lead the hydrographic actors of these river territories in the construction of governance for regional development.
