Abstract
Traditionally most reports on cavity optomechanics to date rely on dispersively coupled optical and acoustic modes optomechanical experiments. However, a complete description of the optomechanical interaction must take into account a dissipative coupling, where the mechanical displacement modulates the optical mode linewidth. In this project, we explore new device designs and experiments that will be used to test dissipative couplings and will allow to extend such an approach for realizing an optomechanical exceptional point, where both modes coalesce into a single mode leading to enhanced position detection sensitivity.
