Abstract

The locus of Psychosocial Care Assistance Network (RAPS) focused on the community environment to the detriment of hospital interventions. However, the PNSM guidelines do not deny the deinstitutionalization process and extra-hospital care, but they do not emphasize them. It allows hospital empowerment, which can affect the principles and the political-social context of the anti-asylum and deinstitutionalization movement that gave rise to the Mental Health Law. It is necessary to evaluate the impact generated by the current mental health policy in the psychiatry scenario, and thus generate actions that are adequate to the needs, in addition to situational planning in health and management of patients with mental disorders. Objective: To evaluate and characterize the number of psychiatric hospitalizations, as well as their costs, at state and national levels from 2012 to 2021. Method: This is an retrospective and descriptive ecological-observational quantitative research on the profile of psychiatric hospitalizations from data present in the Information System of the Informatics Department of the Unified Health System, Datasus. Data will be collected from January 2012 to December 2021 in the directory "Epidemiology and Morbidities". Data will be collected on the number of psychiatric hospitalizations, costs and mortality, according to diagnoses in chapter V, of the ICD-10, considering gender, age, month and year. Data mining will be carried out, and data registration will be carried out, generating coded tables, according to the year, in Excel spreadsheets, to be submitted to a statistical evaluation using the STATA statistical software version 16.1, and a relational evaluation of the data, considering correction of inflation variation of the value by price indices. The data obtained will be transformed into an increase in knowledge for the scientific and management community, helping to build knowledge for decision-making related to the sector. In this research, as a primary outcome, it is estimated to evaluate and characterize the characteristics of the evolutionary process of the number of hospitalizations, as well as their cost, over the years, in each unit of the Federation.
