Abstract

Recognizing the impacts of population aging on the world population, including non-communicable chronic diseases, the WHO launched two global actions, one for the prevention and control of these diseases and the other for rehabilitation. Based on this and a gap in the literature, the present study focuses on the population of university professors in Brazil with regard to chronic pain and its relationships with rehabilitation, self-efficacy and productivity at work. The importance of answering each of these research questions is justified by the direct connection of the information obtained to WHO's efforts to produce data for the two agendas. Furthermore, this study is innovative in proposing a theoretical model of moderate mediation and its realization will allow a substantial understanding of the complex relationships between the variables of interest. Objective: To analyze the associations between chronic musculoskeletal pain, self-efficacy, productivity at work and rehabilitation in teachers of the federal higher education teaching in Brazil. Method: Population-based cross-sectional study that will use a moderate-mediation model. The survey will be carried out online, with a population of 96,374 federal civil servants in the higher education teaching career, and the sample size will be determined in a finite population . The instruments that will be used are self-administered and the invitation to participate in the study will be announced through social media and electronic correspondence. Instruments used: Sociodemographic and work characterization, characterization of pain and rehabilitation of chronic pain when existing, "The work limitations questionnaire (WLQ) to assess productivity at work and the "Chronic Pain Self-Efficacy Scale" to assess self-efficacy for chronic pain. The collected data will be described through absolute frequencies, percentages and through measures such as mean, standard deviation, minimum, median and maximum. To analyze the association between the variables of interest, regression models will be used with structural equations that will demonstrate the direct, indirect and total effects between them. The professor who is interested in participating in the research will have access to the TCLE approved by CEP-UFSCar and will only start responding to the instruments if he accepts the terms of this document.
