Abstract

Proteomic analysis studies the set of proteins expressed by a cell, tissue or organism through the application of technologies for identification and quantification of this material. Proteomic techniques are important tools to investigate microbial pathogenesis, contributing to diagnostic and prognostic purposes or to discover new therapeutic targets. The present study aims to qualitatively and quantitatively analyze the proteomic profile of inflamed dental pulp compared to healthy dental pulp and the corresponding saliva. The analysis of this proteomic profile aims to provide an understanding of aspects related to the pathogenesis and host defense in endodontic infections through the identification of expressed proteins and whether there is a correlation with the proteins expressed in the saliva of this patient. Samples will be collected from 24 patients who have been referred for dental care at the Faculdade de Odontologia de Araçatuba FOA-UNESP. Teeth with pulpitis and teeth with indication for extraction for orthodontic treatment and third molar extraction will be included. The identification of the peptides will be done in a nanoACQUITY UPLC-Xevo QTof MS system (Waters), the identification of the proteins will be obtained using the ProteinLynx Global Server (PLGS) software version 3.0, using the Homo sapiens database from the UniProt catalog .
