Abstract

Introduction: Frailty is a condition characterized by a decline in the functioning of several physiological systems, increasing vulnerability in the elderly, which, due to its multidimensionality, negatively influences the quality of life. Objective: To investigate the association between oral condition, frailty, nutritional status and quality of life in the elderly, and to verify the influence of the context of life in the Family Health Strategy (SUS) and in Indigenous Land. Method: This is a cross-sectional, cross-sectional epidemiological survey to be carried out with 931 older adults 60 years of age or more from Boraceia, Itaju, Bariri, Bauru and in the Indigenous Land of Rio Silveiras in Bertioga. The variables to be investigated will be dental caries, periodontal disease, use and need for dentures, masticatory capacity, lingual pressure force, dysphagia, general and oral fragility, quality of life, habits and sociodemographic conditions. Questionnaires and epidemiological exams will be applied by trained and calibrated researchers. Data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics of absolute and relative values and multilevel multivariate regression. All analyzes will be performed at a confidence level of 0.05. Expected results: It is expected that this project will contribute to the evaluation and induction of public policies, with the training of human resources and that scientific results will be presented in congresses and journals of selective editorial policy in Brazil and abroad.
