Abstract

The present research aims to work with the perspective of creating authorial scenic dramaturgy, based on research into Brazilian popular culture that takes part in the territory of a city as a place, making the city, its architectural and historical heritage, a large space of representation where artists, masters and devotees perform associating body and place, memory and present, the sacred and the profane, art and politics. To this end, the project takes as its common core field research in the languages of Bumba Meu Boi and Tambor de Mina, in the June period, in São Luís do Maranhão. Two complementary axes of investigation will be explored, which associate popular culture and Brazilian dramaturgy, both in relation to the creation of authorial scenic dramaturgy, and in its historical aspect of Brazilian dramaturgical writing intersected with popular festivities. Combining references prepared by the proponent researchers: Teatro de Quermesse (2023) and Poética do Teatro-folia (2022), Leda Martins (1997; 2021), Luiz Antonio Simas (2018; 2020; 2022), Stuart Hall (2013), Milton Santos (2014), Joyce Berth (2023) and Jorge Dubatti (2017), an initial set of references is organized towards the research vectors: Brazilian dramaturgy, popular culture, city, history and politics. The project engenders research activities and study group actions at the Dramaturgy and Performative Writing Laboratory of the Department of Performing Arts at Unicamp (https://www.iar.unicamp.br/labdrama/), proposing as research results, two scientific articles, a street theater production, two dramatic readings, two workshops and two scientific events open to the university's internal and external public.
