A chiral approach to the gauge/gravity duality

Abstract

The AdS/CFT correspondence is a groundbreaking concept emerging from string theory, which has significantly impacted modern theoretical physics. It extends beyond its origins into areas like condensed matter and cosmology. Initially proposed as a duality between type II string theory in an AdS background and N=4 super Yang-Mills theory, the correspondence has opened avenues for exploration into intricate physical states within the AdS space. Recent developments have introduced chiral string models with finite physical spectrum, with concrete evidence of a dual field theory description applicable at tree level. This research proposal aims to initiate an investigation into chiral string models within the framework of the AdS/CFT correspondence. The objectives include determining the tree level dynamics of chiral strings in type II backgrounds, particularly focusing on AdS_5xS^5, exactly determining the vertex operators associated to the physical spectrum, and exploring their implications for gauge/gravity duality. Through a collaborative effort between experts in Brazil and the Czech Republic, this research seeks to shed light on novel features of the gauge/gravity duality and establish a foundation for long-term collaboration. Seminars will be conducted to introduce chiral string models and perturbiner methods, providing a platform for knowledge exchange and fostering further advancements in the field. This proposed three-month research visit holds the potential for significant discoveries, with immediate publication outputs anticipated and the groundwork laid for future collaborative endeavours.
