Abstract

Each year, ICTP-SAIFR organizes more than 40 hybrid activities at IFT for more than 1500 students and visiting researchers. In addition to these activities, the IFT staff includes graduate students, postdocs and professors who need high-performance computers for their research. For these reasons, the plan for applying these resources involves investments in IT and videoconferencing systems, and the maintenance of systems that were purchased with the institutional technical reserve from previous projects.With the start in 2023 of the thematic project 2021/14335-0 of ICTP-SAIFR (International Center for Theoretical Physics-South American Institute for Fundamental Research) in the IFT-UNESP building, the value of this installment of institutional technical reserve for the IFT-UNESP is more than 1,814,000 reais. Because of this large amount and the small size of the IFT, we are requesting a period of 5 years (2024-2029) to spend the resources from this installment. In the previous plan for the application of the IFT's institutional technical reserve (project 2017/240804-2), which coincided with the start of the previous ICTP-SAIFR thematic project (2016/01343-7), FAPESP granted the period of 5 years (2018-2023) to spend the resources.
