Abstract

Teaching and research activities involving topics of direct interest to the oil, natural gas, biofuels, and renewable energy sector have grown significantly in recent years, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at UFSC, largely due to the support of ANP through the former PRH-09 Program, under the coordination of Prof. Maliska. The complexity and challenges of engineering problems in pre-salt exploration, for example, require solutions that end up encompassing more than one area of concentration, as well demonstrated by the various research projects that have been contracted by PETROBRAS and other energy sector companies.
